Long lines at McFArland Mall in Tuscaloosa. Looked like about an hour's wait. I'm going back later in the morning...

Just do it tomorrow, WT. Your lines will be a lot shorter.

Do go over to Starbucks though and get your free cuppa java.

Long, long line in Smalltown, America, where I live -- they wrapped all the way around the building, and I've never seen that many out voting, even in much larger cities. The lines moved along pretty quickly, though. People were cordial and talkative.

Took me about 30 minutes to vote in T-Town. HUGE turnout. Largest I've seen in 22 years here. Usually I can breeze in, vote, and slink out (I'm a Democrat).

An unusually Happy Crowd, too. I think they know something...

In Ga, there isn't any delineation by party anymore-as far as booths are concerned.
Lines have been hit or miss in Atlanta today...about a third of voters voted early so perhaps today won't be so hard.Weather is perfect...no rain.Estimates are in the upper 80% for the total vote...incredible!

I voted this morning a little after eleven. More people there than I usually see in elections. I think Mississippi is going to set a record for the number of people voting.

I'm sure all that wet kissing takes time, too. Also.

That's ok, Huey. We actually push that kind of stuff ourselves. It helps to keep the riffraff out. ;-)

Um, according to the map I'm following, Obama is leading McCain 52.8 to 46.6.

In Alabama.

Holy shit.

CNN has called Bama for McCain.

Obama has a 2K lead in Mississippi.

I was getting other numbers instead of state for some reason. McCain got what I figured he would here.

Latest results in Ga races...Chambliss is barely under 50% and if that holds,a runoff for the Senate seat(and a weird little factoid here:In recent memory, the 2nd place finisher USUALLY wins a runoff in Ga-whatever the office, regardless of party...it's happened over and over).
Also,Jim Marshall has a comfortable lead in what was considered a tough race.

I think it's a small justice that Chambliss has to campaign for another month to hang onto his seat. However, I have two reasons to suspect he might win the run-off -- first, he's close to 50%. Second, the black voters who were motivated to show up for Obama yesterday may not be so motivated for the run-off, while the Republicans who are smarting may want some payback.

If the Democrats are smart, they will flood Georgia with all kinds of money for ad buys, and they might want to bring the sainted Max Cleland out on the stump to denounce Chambliss for his dirty campaigning six years ago. The Gops have absolutely no money, and the Dems should take no prisoners...

You obviously haven't a clue about Libertarians in GA...they were the most adamently anti-Chambliss.The bailout was their rallying cry and Martin and the Libertarian bunched up on Chambliss in the debates.
The second place person invariably wins in Ga in statewide runoffs...don't know exactly WHY,but it's a well known situation-and typically the challenger defeats the incumbent. It could be differnt this year,I would see "the Republicans who are smarting may want some payback" as the primary reason.OTOH,Chambliss is out of $$ and Martin can rely on the better funded DSCC for support.
The irony is these two are old fraternity brothers, have know each other for years, and have similar friends in high places.
Obama could help immensely with targeted support.
We'll see?

Sure. They'll join the ACLU.

This will be fun. Could be for 60...

And Arlen Specter agrees to join Obama's cabinet, allowing Ed Rendell to pick Number 61.

Joe won't go GOP, after the shabby way the party faithful treated the prospect of his being McCain's running mate...
