He should have been barred from ever serving in Congress on the basis of his disgraceful treatment of Max Cleland in the first place. I'm afraid, tho, I'm going to have to be satisfied with seeing Liddy Dole tossed out on her can.

From the Fox Website:
In Philadelphia, FOX News' Rick Leventhal went to a polling station downtown where "it was reported" two Black Panthers had stationed themselves at the door to a polling station and were intimidating voters. "One" held a nightstick.

The man carrying the nightstick was reportedly escorted away from the polling station by police before FOX News arrived around noon. Outside, FOX News found another Black Panther who said he was a certified observer. Police asked him and the FOX News crew to leave the polling station.

Leventhal returned after 2 p.m. and the man said he was a certified poll watcher.

Have no idea if a "major network" would stretch the facts...
but,I can read what they have on their site...and it doesn't match Caustic's hyperbole(like any respectable media outlet would try?)
He said/she said/everybody said-and they all trusted one another...and no one verified.
Wonder what Reagan would think about that?

I saw that video, and it's all hearsay, from FOX News people who arrived after everything had happened, if indeed something did happen. There's another video in which people claim that GOP pollwatchers harassed black voters.

It's all noise right now - nothing has been proved yet by either side.

Actually, what's being reported is that repub "poll watchers" in Philadelphia are trying to intimidate voters. I mean, reported by reputable sources, not speculation about something a faux talkinghead heard about at the bar.

Here's the the first paragraph of an article from the (very slow loading) Philadelphia Enquirer:

Voters intimidated?

Delaware County Democrats claim Republicans are intimidating voters outside polling places. GOP campaign workers are manning the tables and are asking for voters' names and party affiliation.

***

I'm sure this will really bother cubbie.

In Caustic's original post he said they were keeping white voters from voting. Any proof of that? Besides, if you feel intimidated approaching a polling area you can always get a police officer to escort you, all you have to do is request one.

Here's an Obama worker's take on what's happening.

From the article:

an Obama campaign volunteer who's been on the scene since 6:30 AM this morning tells me in a phone interview that there's been absolutely no intimidation of voters at all today. And a Pennsylvania spokesperson for Obama said the two men aren't in any way affiliated with the campaign.

Fox News' story is right here. It says one of two black panthers on the scene was "allegedly blocking the door," says another was "holding a nightstick." and adds that "the concern was that they were intimidating people who were trying to go inside to vote."

But Jacqueline Dischell, the Obama volunteer, tells me by phone that that's false.

Dischell confirms that there were in fact two black panthers guarding the polling place, a nursing home on Fairmont Avenue in north Philadelphia, earlier this morning.

But she says one was an officially designated poll watcher (it was not immediately clear which municipal office had designated him in that role), and the second was his friend. The second panther, who left two or three hours ago, was the one with the nightstick, she says.

Dischell says that earlier this morning a few men who identified themselves as being from the McCain campaign came and started taking pictures of the two panthers on their cell phones. She suggested that they seemed to be baiting the panthers, and that the designated watcher may have given one of them the finger in response to the picture taking.

The police came roughly an hour and a half later. She says she talked to the cops and told them there had been no incident. The police drove away without getting out of the car, she adds.

Some time later, a second, larger group of men whose affiliation couldn't be determined came with real cameras and started taking more pictures. Maybe 15 minutes later the cops returned. This time, they spoke to people on both sides, and told the panther not designated to watch the polls to leave, which he did without an argument.

"There was no fight, nothing," she says.

Fox News arrived on the scene at around that time and started interviewing people near the entrance. The building manager asked the Fox reporter to leave, she says, and he moved further from the entrance.

That's where things now stand. "There has been no fighting, no voter intimidation at all," she said.

The point of discussing this is that this is very typical for an election day...where "intimidation" is often in the eye of the beholder.
Every election day in the South has many instances of black folks being "intimidated" by a police presence.Personally, I don't get intimidated by cops being on the scene...but then again,I've never been beaten with a billy club either!
Outta here till late this evening...gotta go stuff some more boxes!

How can it be PURE RACISM? How many white voters were turned away? Remember Caustic, you are talking about Philly.

Hell if anything those guys would want all the black voters to feel safe and go to the poll and vote.

I don't have a clue why he is there cubfan. I do know that Caustic tried to make it a racial thing by saying thay they were blocking white voters when, of course, there were no white voters in sight and probably very, very few registered at that precinct. No matter the reason, he was led away and people can now vote.

I just saw the video of the Panthers at the polling place. They were drinking coffee and chatting with the voters in line. Lots of white people there- no issues.

Nice try caustic. Got any other excuses for this ass whippin you're in the process of taking?

Just for kicks why don't you drive down into Watts and check out the polling areas there. Tell us if you see any white voters being intimidated.
