Interesting article on the Tea Bagger pseudo party preparing to go down in flames: A Tea Party convention billed as the coming together of the grass-roots groups that began sprouting up around the country a year ago is unraveling as sponsors and participants pull out to protest its expense and express concerns about profiteering.http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/26/us/politics/26teaparty.html?hp
Looks like, they are collapsing under their own weight, I found that article funny too when it was tweeted to me last night

Breaking: Bachmann withdraws from Tea Party convention posted at 12:55 pm on January 28, 2010 by Ed Morrissey Share on Facebook | printer-friendly
The controversy over next week’s Tea Party Convention in Nashville has generated a major change in the agenda. Rep. Michele Bachmann has withdrawn from the event after questions were raised over the handling of revenues by the organizers. David Dziok, Bachmann’s Communications Director, sent me a message just a few minutes ago:
Due to conflicting advice on whether Congresswoman Bachmann’s participation in the upcoming Tea Party Nation Convention would be in line with the Committee on Standards, Congresswoman Bachmann has decided not to participate in the event. There is uncertainty about how any proceeds from the event may be used, and we must err on the side of caution. Some will want to portray her withdrawal as a repudiation of the Tea Party Movement, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Congresswoman Bachmann remains encouraged by all Americans, regardless of political party, who are concerned about this nation’s future and dwindling prosperity, and continues to be inspired their passion.
Bachmann was one of two featured speakers at the event, the other being Sarah Palin, who is still scheduled to appear at the convention.
I have asked Judson Phillips, the event’s organizer, for his reaction and will update this post as developments occur.

No matter how much that liberals disdain the tea party movement, it already has served its purpose. It ignited a phenomenon that overran the Democrat majority. It was never destined to replace either party, and any attempt or failure to formalize its existence doesn't matter a whit. If Democrats conclude that the disgust has gone away, and it's OK to expand social spending, they are in for even a ruder surprise. The economy is going to remain sickly because of their past doings, and the threat of more will only make things worse. If that's possible.

well and their convention is going to be a failure and we will all laugh and it wil take away from their credibility as an organization and we shall laugh some more, and others will figure out that the infrastructure is nothing more than a sham to make large amounts of money ran by charlatans and then I'll laugh a lot more

Tea partying militia leader arrested for raping a 7 year old girl, possessing a grenade launcher
Tuesday, January 26, 2010 ~ Devin Burghart
"A former Marine with ties to Tea Parties and militias who talked openly about using his training “to become a domestic terrorist” has been charged in separate complaints with raping a child and possessing an unregistered grenade launcher. His arrest may signal that a wing of the Tea Parties is heading in a more militant direction.
Charles Allan Dyer, 29, of Marlow, Oklahoma was arrested on January 12 at his home by Stephens County Sheriff’s deputies on the rape charge. The arrest occurred after a 7-year-old girl told sexual-abuse experts about a January 2nd incident at Dyer's home.
While sheriff's deputies were at Dyer's home, they found several firearms and a Colt M-203, 40-millimeter grenade launcher, according to court documents. When they searched a national crime database, the deputies discovered that the grenade launcher was one of three stolen from a military base at Fort Irwin, California, in 2006. According to an affidavit, Dyer told law enforcement that he had received the grenade launcher "from his best friend who gave it to him while Dyer was stationed in California with the Marine Corps" (United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma, Criminal Complaint, Case No. M-10-36-BA, January 14, 2010, pp. 2-3).
Dyer left the Marines last year after being brought up on charges of uttering "disloyal” statements, including his starring in several inflammatory YouTube videos which called for armed resistance against the U.S. government. In one video, Dyer exclaimed, "With DHS blatantly calling patriots, veterans, and constitutionalists a threat, all that I have to say is you’re damn right we're a threat. We're a threat to anyone that endangers our rights and the Constitution of this republic." He invited viewers to join him at his makeshift training area—"I'm sure the DHS will call it a terrorist training camp.”
In an online interview, when asked about “honorable organizations to get a patriots feet wet with and take the fight to the man, and to the streets,” Dyer stated, “Oathkeepers, American Resistance Movement, Local tea parties, Appleseed, and I'm sure many other organizations near your area that you would have to search a little for. It depends a lot on how far you are willing to take the fight to preserve your freedom. If you are willing to give your life to preserve freedom for your children and grandchildren, I would suggest any of the above mentioned groups. If you are only willing to write on forums and protest on the streets, but will ultimately live under tyranny if it means not being killed, then I suggest joining the 9/12 project or something else a little safer.”
Charles Dyer

Well if this "tea party" doesn't work out there's plenty more of them. Maybe that's the problem. They need to get unified. Sarah Palin to the rescue?
tpm
Tea Party Nation Speaks Out: 'We Never Did This To Be Rich And Famous'
snip.
Tea Party Nation organizers today issued a long defense of their unraveling convention, lambasting former members they say are trying to harm the movement and outlining for the first time in great detail their event's sponsorships and problems.
We've been following the travails of the upcoming Tea Party Nation convention for weeks, with key speakers withdrawing and the Tea Party Express group backing out as well thanks to feuds over the cost and expected profits of the convention.
Sherry Phillips wrote a long email to members of the Tea Party Nation mailing list titled "Setting The Record Straight."
Phillips said organizers were encouraged to speak out against the "intense media scrutiny and attacks by former members" but she stayed silent so as not to further divisions "that are already hurting this movement."
"We will stay silent no longer," she wrote.
She goes into detail about convention sponsors American Liberty Alliance, American Majority and Campaign for Liberty, and said the Tea Party Express only withdrew because of their push to unseat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in Nevada.
She calls out "former Tea Party Nation members" for "discussing their association with liberal media outlets" and "conspiring" to harm TPN and the convention.
Phillips said a business loan from Bill Hemrick has been paid back in full and that the members of Congress who pulled out of the event were "rightfully concerned about backlash they will receive from the left-leaning Democrat controlled House Ethics Committee."
"[W]e have no doubt the Democrats would have found something in that code to cause them problems once the convention was over," Phillips wrote, insisting TPN maintains a strong relationship with both Reps. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Michele Bachmann (R-MN).
She explains that TPN is not a nonprofit but said the group is run by volunteers. She said the group expects to break even and "may even make a few thousand dollars to cover local operating costs of TPN."
"We never did this to make us rich or famous. Quite the contrary, we are patriots who love our country, our members and the people who are coming to Nashville to attend this great event," Phillips wrote.

Palin Still Psyched For Tea Party Convention Despite Growing Exodus
snip.
It looks like Sarah Palin may be left holding the bag at a Tea Party event that almost no one else in the movement wants anything to do with.
The former Alaska governor still plans to speak at the much-maligned National Tea Party Convention next month in Nashville. "You betcha I'm going to be there," she told Fox News last night.

Long interview with Greta but here is the part about the tea party.
foxnews
snip.
VAN SUSTEREN: All right, on another topic, tea party convention is coming up. We've been told that you're a headliner. First of all, what's the status of the tea party movement in the country? Is it growing? Is it on hold or is it sort of slipping, or what's your thought?
PALIN: I think it's growing because the tea party movement -- in general, speaking here -- it's about the people. It's about the people wanting their voice heard, wanting to be able to speak to Washington, D.C., and say, Hey, here's what we expect from our government. You're taxing us too much. You're growing too quickly. You're loading up our children and grandchildren with unsustainable debt and that's unfair and immoral and not logical. That is the voice of the people.
And that voice of the people is within this group called the tea party movement. That's growing, and it's going to keep growing until Washington, D.C., starts listening.
VAN SUSTEREN: All right, two parts to the question. One is, do you intend to come here and speak? I know that there has -- at least, Michele Bachmann, I think, of Minnesota, has dropped out, as well as the congresswoman from the state of Tennessee. Do you intend to speak? And there's the controversy about you getting paid. What's your thought?
PALIN: Oh, you betcha I'm going to be there. I'm going to speak there because there are people traveling from many miles away to hear what that tea party movement is all about and what that message is that should be received by our politicians in Washington. I'm honored to get to be there.
I won't personally gain from being there. The speaker's fee will go right back into the cause. I'll be able to donate it to people and to events, those things that I believe in that will help perpetuate the message, the message being, Government, you have constitutional limits. You better start abiding by them.
VAN SUSTEREN: All right, in terms of the tea party movement, is it likely to create the issue that happened in '92 with Ross Perot and President Bush, or will it merge with the Republican Party? And how do you see that happening?
PALIN: They need to merge. Definitely, they need to merge. I think those who are wanting the divisions and the divisiveness and the controversy -- those are the ones who don't believe in the message. And they're the ones, I think, stirring it up. We need to ignore that and we need to forge ahead with a cohesive message. It's a common sense message. It, again, is, Government, limit yourself so that the private sector, our families, free individuals can grow and thrive and prosper and enjoy America's freedom!

I see a big problem here. Palin's saying the tea party people need to merge with the republican party. But there are so many factions right now and I'm sure a lot of them don't want to merge. And if they do merge then what? You've just where you've always been. Nowhere.

Yo Rocker, the Dems are even going to lose the mayor office in New Orleans. Maybe they can stop it, if they bus all the black people that left N.O. to come back and vote. Fat chance there.

A battle cry from the head of American Majority which is sort of like a tea party, I guess.
http://americanmajority.org/feature-content/tea-partiers-continental-army/
The Tea Partiers and the Continental Army
snip.
Now I’m not saying it was all smooth sailing after that for Washington and the Continental Army. They were still ill-equipped and fed, and were facing the finest army in the world at the time. But it did allow them to go toe-to-toe with the British, beat them at times, but approach the conflict with more discipline. And three years later, we of course know that the Continental Army, with the help of the French, beat Cornwallis at Yorktown and effectively ended the Revolutionary War.
The point I want to make is that in 2009, many of the people coming out to the tea parties and 9.12 events were doing so for the first time. I was just at an event in Dallas for organizers and asked, “For how many of you was 2009 the first time you really did anything?” I would venture to say 80% of the people in the room raised their hands. So you have people who are very passionate, but very new, to the process. If the tea party movement is going to be successful, and make the impact it can, and should have, the people in the movement need to become even better at what they do, from organizing, to messaging, to leading. What if the millions that showed up last year all became better at engaging online, building effective grassroots coalitions, became proficient at enforcing accountability on their elected officials, and even identifying and training new leadership from the movement to run for office? Can you imagine the impact the movement can have, not just in 2010, but beyond?
My hope is that in 2010, the tea party movement does take the time to get trained and even better educated, because quite frankly, the left knows the movement is coming, and if the tea partiers are going to beat the left in this country, the time to get better is right now.

The people holding the convention next week are a little ticked off at the American Majority group (see above post). Let the fun begin! This article is linked at TPM above.
American Majority - After stating in the beginning they wanted to co-sponsor the convention, they never answered repeated emails sent asking them for confirmation of their attendance. They did not promote the convention and did not put the convention on their calendar. In fact Ned Ryun spent 5 minutes in an interview on Fox News talking about the Tea Party movement and did not mention the convention at all. Meanwhile, another training organization contacted us asking if they could become a sponsor and if they could do a breakout session. We gladly accepted and gave them American Majority's spots. On January 6, Ned's assistant sent an email stating she was making travel arrangements for them to come and participate in the convention and asked when did we have their breakouts scheduled. I told her because of their non-response, we gave American Majority's slots to this other organization. They then requested that their logo be removed from the Convention website. We complied with their request.

Patricia,
The tea people have to learn to concentrate on one or two issues at a time. If you scan the crowd at one of the demonstrations, you will see signs on every topic you can imagine. IMO

Tea Party hero leads Buena Park rally
snip.
Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., showed more than 200 fans and activists at Knott's Berry Farm on Thursday what it looks like when Republicans and Tea Party Patriots are on the same page. While most Tea Party folks are virulently anti-Barack Obama, some are wary of Republicans as well - especially Republicans who've voted for spending increases.
But the controversial Bachmann moves easily among the Tea Party faction - as well as the Fox News fans, if there is a distinction between the two. She joined Rep. Ed Royce, R-Fullerton, in front of the theme park's Independence Hall and reiterated the message that's helped build her a following: No increases in government spending. No more bailouts. Ditch the proposed health-care reform. Cut taxes. And, especially: Obama and his administration are bad for the country.
"We reject his agenda. Entirely," she said to the cheering crowd. "What we've seen in the last 12 months is a rewriting of our history. These are people who despise the things we believe in."

You said the democrats that attended were the riff raff that I referred to. That's how I took it anyway.

Catz, who would you rather have be top dog of the tea parties. Michele or Sarah? Or neither? Someone's going to need to step up and lead.

Malfunction, you have no idea when and how much I drink.
Patricia, there are many democrats at tea parties. Hell, some democrats in congress don't like the direction that the country is going in.
Link to democrats in the Tea Parties?
And why would you call them riffraff, if they've come around to that way of thinking? Or will they always be second-class members of the party?

Just to show Obama that democrats don't like his policies either. If you had paid attention, you would have known that by the Brown election. Those democrats voted republican, laugh that one off.

The whole POINT of the tea party movement is that they are not Republicans. And this Palin woman thinks they have to "merge"? Darn, the GOP is right here right now, anyone wants to join it all they have to do is register!
The point is that tea partyers are fleeing the GOP as fast as they can go, because the GOP became a party of war losers, sexual perverts, and general incompetents.

Then Sarah just doesn't get it does she? I think Michele may be coming round though.

Not a link...or even a coherent response.
Thank you for your time, Catz.

Are you still okay with the Republican Party, Catz?
Because a lot of us aren't. And that includes all the tea partyers: otherwise they'd, you know, BE Republicans.

This is the big problem with the tea party movement. Too many republicans want to hop on. I think there's going to be a major break soon between those two factions. May the best tea party win!
