Senator Shelby demands his pork or else. Washington is buzzing with speculation on how long Shelly will hold his breath.
"Sen. Shelby has placed holds on several pending nominees due to unaddressed national security concerns," Shelby spokesperson Jonathan Graffeo said in a statement. "Among his concerns" are the progress on multi-billion dollar defense contract that would see planes built in Mobile, AL and Obama's decision to scrap a $45 million FBI improvised explosive device lab Shelby secured an earmark for in 2008.
Speaking as an Alabamian of Good Stead, I can assure you that those of us who live in Tuscaloosa say...
"You Yankees been stealin' our Sovereign Money - and may I say, Co-Ruptin' Our Conservative Christian Values long enough! So Bring Us The Money, Senator!"

Richard Shelby was a successful attorney both in and out of the system. The business he founded, the law firm and the ancillary business - Tuscaloosa Title Co - is one of the top two Title Firms in Glorious T-Town. He's also a very nice person. His ability to bring The Pork back home has accounted for much of the urban renewal in Tuscaloosa. He has also been very good for The University of Alabama through the Voluminous Earmarking for which he has come to been known. He is...The Great Voliminator.

I'm in business in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Senator Shelby has been good for business in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I'd be crazy not to like his impact on my city. Richard is also a very nice man.
Now if you want to know if I vote for him...well...that's another matter.

Most pols look out for their districts/states w/o doing the stupid hold thing like Shelby. He wanted to get Obama's attention? He could say he was interested in working on health care-and MEAN it. Of course, he'd be in deep shit with his "leadership" if he broke ranks.
